Display "Starting at" Pricing for Variant-Based Products

If product prices vary by size, material, or other variants, showing a single price on product cards can mislead users. If they click expecting a lower price and see a higher one, they may feel frustrated and bounce.

Why?

Clearly communicate pricing by displaying "Starting at $X.XX" on product cards. This sets accurate expectations, reduces sticker shock, and ensures users understand the price range upfront before clicking into the product page.

  • Your product cards show single prices but variants range 20%+ in cost (e.g., $50-$80 range)
  • Collection page bounce rate exceeds 60% or product page exit rate is above 45%
  • You sell products with size, material, or configuration variants that affect pricing
  • Your store runs on Shopify, BigCommerce, or WooCommerce with variant pricing capabilities
  • You generate 1,000+ monthly collection page views where pricing transparency impacts purchase decisions

For Shopify stores, implement "Starting at" pricing through theme customization:

  1. Navigate to Online Store > Themes > Actions > Edit Code in your Shopify admin
  2. Locate your product card template (usually product-card.liquid or card-product.liquid)
  3. Replace the existing price display with this liquid code:
