Lead with a Clear, Solution-Focused Hero

When users land on your page, they need to know instantly what it's about and how it matters to them. A vague or cluttered hero section creates confusion and increases bounce rates.

Why?

Your hero should clearly state the page's purpose and position your brand as the best solution to their problem. A strong headline, a concise value proposition, and a compelling CTA ensure visitors immediately understand the value and take action.

  • Visitor feedback mentions confusion about what your brand does or offers

Focus on three core hero elements: headline, value proposition, and call-to-action button.

  1. Optimize your headline: Keep it under 10 words, focus on the primary benefit. In Shopify, edit your theme's sections/hero.liquid or use the theme customizer under "Homepage sections"
  2. Craft your value proposition: Write 1-2 sentences (max 20 words) explaining how you solve their specific problem. Place this directly below your headline with 16-18px font size
  3. Design your CTA button: Use action words like "Shop Now" or "Get Started". Make it 48px height minimum for mobile, with high contrast colors. Position it prominently in the hero fold
  4. Mobile optimization: Ensure hero text is readable at 320px width. Stack elements vertically with 16px padding on mobile
  5. Visual hierarchy: Use font sizes of 32-48px for headlines on desktop, 24-32px on mobile. Maintain 1.2-1.4 line height for readability
