Show Users How to Use Your Product—Even If It Feels Obvious

Users don't always know how to best use or apply a product—even if it seems straightforward. If they're unsure, they might delay purchasing or choose a competitor with clearer guidance.

Why?

Provide step-by-step usage instructions, creative use cases, or pro tips tailored to your audience's journey. Use visuals, GIFs, or short videos to make it engaging and brand-aligned. The easier you make it for users to see the product in their life, the more likely they are to buy.

  • Your product pages have conversion rates below 3% and high bounce rates (above 60%)
  • Analytics show users spending less than 30 seconds on product pages before leaving
  • You're selling products that require mixing, assembly, application, or have multiple use cases
  • Customer support receives frequent questions about "how do I use this?" or sizing/application guidance
  • Your store has sufficient traffic (500+ monthly product page views) to validate results within 4-6 weeks

Add usage guidance directly to your Shopify product pages using a strategic placement approach:

  1. Create a dedicated "How to Use" section positioned between your product images and description. Use Shopify's metafields or custom liquid sections to add this consistently across products.
  2. Implement visual content with 3-4 step-by-step images or GIFs (max 2MB each, 600x400px recommended). Host on Shopify's CDN for optimal loading speed.
  3. Add interactive elements using accordions or tabs. In Shopify's theme customizer, create collapsible sections for "Usage Instructions," "Pro Tips," and "Creative Applications."
  4. Mobile optimization is critical—ensure images stack vertically with 16px spacing and text remains readable at 14px minimum font size.
